Frank Gundermann Instructs MCSC Students on Web Design
Proper web site design begins with understanding the basics of
design. The new course offered by the Mission Community Skills
Centre Society (MCSC) instructs students on applying graphic
design principles in the marketplace for business. The new Graphic
Design Program is headed by a veteran print industry specialist,
Mimmo Carbone.
"This is what the industry needs. New students who can come
out of a course that teaches them real world business design and
how to apply their knowledge to all areas of the business, not
just to simply a knowledge of the software. If someone knows how
to use a hammer, it does not make them a carpenter. This program
teaches students how to be 'carpenters'."
The program duration is 15 weeks and will cover the basics of graphic
design, business administration and professionalism, and 2 weeks
on web development. The web development component of the course
will be instructed by the president of FOG Designs, Frank Gundermann.
"This component of the course is very exciting to many of
the students. It allows them to place the portfolio they develop
throughout the course onto their own web site. This provides the
students with solid skills that they can demonstrate to their
potential employers. Employers are looking for employees with
a understanding of the web and many small businesses have a demand
for the students completing this course."
